A new monograph series in paleontology PATRICK R. RACHEBOEUF

'BIOSTRATIGRAPHIE DU PALEOZOIQUE' is a new mo- nograph series intended for major contributions on all aspects of the paleozoic micro- and macrofaunas, as well as floras. The series is edited by the UniversitC de Bretagne Occidentale, Brest (France). The Editor is Dr. P. R. Racheboeuf, Brest.

The first number of the series (issued January 1985). entitled Les Brachiopodes dkvoniens de la Sierra de Perija (Vknkzuela) , is by Juan Luis Benedetto (Universidad de Cordoba, Argenti- na). It is a 191 pp.. 40 text-figs. and 30 plates volume giving, for the first time, a complete view of the Devonian brachiopods from this area. Fifty-two genera and 77 species are described, 12 species being new. Five assemblage zones are recognized from the vertical distribution of the faunas and paleogeographi- cal implications are discussed.
