Scope Processing and transmission of information, optoelec- tronics, laser techniques, coherent optics, nonlinear op- tics, etc. have all created pure and hybrid optical sys- tems, which have a direct influence on the technical progress. The main aim of ico-16, corresponding to the strategy of ico, is to emphasize the role of optics in the realization of high technology and thus contribute to its industrial application as well. Naturally, however, all fields of optics, together with the interdisciplinar ones in- volved, indispensably contribute to the whole process, so their results and developments are very important factors to all of us.
