Abstract : If we intended to summarize the conception of rhythm that has prevailed in the common doxa throughoutthe last centuries, we could say that the aforementioned concept has been interpreted, since Plato, as meter ormeasure. In the "modern" age the term "rhythm" is continued to be interpreted in that conventional way, until recent"post-modern" theoreticians, directly or indirectly inspired in the ideas of Émile Benveniste - about the overlapping ofthe ideas of schema "form" and movement or "flow" - trace the meaning of rhythm to the pre-Socratic philosophers, with the aim of eventually approaching subjectivity in discourse. The present article offers a reflexion on these ideasrelating them to the existential analytic of the German philosopher Martin Heidegger.

Key Words : Philosophy, semiotics, rhythm, science, existence.
