1. INSTALLATION GUIDE

1.1 INTRODUCTION

Aastra Dialer is a Windows desktop application that facilitates dialing calls on from a PC and controlling your terminal which is connected to a Call Server (A400, A5000 or MXONE).

Two editions of Aastra Dialer are provided:

Aastra Dialer for .NET Framework 3.5

Aastra Dialer for .NET Framework 4.0

There are two ways to install the Aastra Dialer:

Using an install program that does not require administrator rights.

Silent deployment managed by the domain administrator.

1.2 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Aastra Dialer has been validated with the following Call Server versions:

A400 version R3.2 or above

A5000 version R5.3 SP1 or above

MXONE version 6.0 or above

Its use is subject to license. Please check the ordering guide of each call manager for the name of the required license for Aastra Dialer.

The supported versions of Windows are:

Windows XP - 32/64 bits

Windows Vista - 32/64 bits

Windows 7 - 32/64 bits

Windows 8 and 8.1 – 32/64 bits

A least one of the two Microsoft .NET Framework versions 3.5 or 4.0 is required.

Note that depending on the version of Windows, a .NET Framework version may be automatically included. Otherwise it must be installed as shown it this table:

Note that all .NET versions are freely downloadable on the Microsoft website and are compatible with all supported versions of Windows.

If you intend to use the add-in for Office 365/Lync 2013, so you have to choose Aastra Dialer for .NET Framework 4.0 edition. The minimal version of Office Lync 2013 required is:

15.0.4517.

1.3 INSTALLATION FOR A400 OR MXONE CALL SERVERS

Edit the text file named aastra.cfg which is in the the same directory as the installation

program file AastraDialer.exe. On the parameter line "configuration server uri" and replace the value by the appropriate configuration URI. Then run the installation program.

1.4 INSTALLATION FOR A5000 CALL SERVER

Rename the available installation program AastraDialer.exe to

AastraDialer.<@ip-call-server>.exe, and then run it.

Example: the file must be renamed to AastraDialer.10.102.13.77.exe before been run.

1.5 INSTALLATION FOR THE ADD-IN LYNC 2013/OFFICE 365

An optional add-in for Lync 2013/Office 365 allows the Aastra Dialer to establish a call from a Lync contact. This add-in should be installed or deployed separately using an MSI package. The installation of this component requires administrator rights, as well as the presence of ". NET Framework 4.0".

1.6 UPGRADING THE SOFTWARE

To update the software, the procedure is the same as for a first installation. User settings and preferences will be saved.

1.7 UNINSTALLATION

In the “Control Panel” of Windows, select ‘Programs and Features” then click on “Aastra

Dialer” to uninstall.

1.8 SILENT DEPLOYMENT

The Windows domain administrator can manage the deployment of Aastra Dialer for users in the domain. The procedure is as follows:

Put the installation program file (and the configuration file for A400 and MXONE Call Serverds) in a shared folder.

Inside the Group Policy Management Editor application, register the

creation/replacement of the registry parameter “AastraDialer” located at

“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run”

The value of this parameter is the same command line than for a normal installation except that the flag “-s” must be added.

Example for A5000:

Optionally, the administrator can preconfigure the required login name for each user by specifying this information with ‘na’ argument in the command line as shown in the following example: Key:

For each affected user, Aastra Dialer will be installed or updated automatically at the next logon. Similarly it is possible for the administrator to uninstall Aastra Dialer automatically for users of the Windows Domain. For this, the argument ‘uninstall’ must be inserted in the command as shown is the example below :

2. USER GUIDE

2.1 LAUNCHING THE APPLICATION

Click the shortcut in the Start menu or the shortcut created on the desktop.

Optionally, the application can be automatically started when the session is opened (see the configuration options).

After the first start, the application prompts for an identifier and a password.

Depending on installation type, the identifier may appear already.

A5000: The expected identifier and password are the subscription number and for the password of the subscription (it is advisable to change the default password).

ATTENTION : The subscription is blocked after three incorrect passwords.

A400: to be completed

MXOne: to be completed

Then depending on whether or not the ”Remember the password” option is ticked, the dialogue box may or may not be displayed each time the application is started.

: exit the application

When the cursor is placed over the different fields a pop-up gives their function.

The window can be moved about and widened by pulling the double arrow displayed when the cursor is placed over the lateral edge.

Right-clicking the window header displays the menu below:

Always on top: so the application is always displayed on the foreground.

Change session: return to the session opening window.

About: display the application release.

2.2 CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS

Click to open the configuration window. This window contains three tabs:

The Subscription tab used to:

Change the subscription number

Modify the password storage option (by default: unticked)

The Options tab used to:

Add/delete the desktop shortcut (by default: ticked).

Enable/disable the automatic start option when the session is opened (by default: ticked)

Enable/disable the display option "Always visible", used to keep the Dialer window on the foreground (by default: ticked)

Modify how a search is made in the Call Server directory. The following options are proposed:

By surname and first name (by default)

By name only

By first name only.

The Keyboard shortcut tab used to activate and define keyboard shortcuts:

The default values are:

Call using the selected field Ctrl+[C]+[Space]

Accept incoming call Ctrl+[Space]

Release call Ctrl+Alt[Space]

Remarque : These default values have been chosen in such a way that they are available on all keyboard types (Azerty, Qwerty, etc...) and that they do not clash with the key combinations used by other applications.

These key combinations can be personalised by clicking Modify.

Some syntax rules must be respected:

Call using the selected field: for this action, the key combination must be CTRL+[C] plus another key.

This key may be either:

A key associated with a character (for a numeric character, use the numeric key-pad only)

An F1 to F12 function key

Or even any of the following special keys:

[Insert], [Del], [End], [Space], [Enter],

Accept incoming call / Release call:

For these two actions, the F1 to F12 keys may be used alone.

For a key combination, one or two keys among [Ctrl], [Alt] and [Maj] must be part of the key combinations, as well as any other key.

This key may be either:

A key associated with a character (for a numeric character, use the numeric key-pad only)

An F1 to F12 function key

Or even any of the following special keys:

[Insert], [Del], [End], [Space], [Enter],

2.3 MAKING A CALL

By entering a number directly:

Enter the number to be called in the input field (preceded by the output prefix for external

number) then click the call button or press Enter.

By Copy/Paste or Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V or Drag/Drop:

a number copied from another Windows application:

For external numbers, most of the commonly used numbers are supported. However, the number should not include the output prefix.

Examples of supported formats:

The numbers may contain characters like hyphens, periods, spaces and parentheses. These characters will automatically be removed and do not disturb the function.

A surname and first name:

If the items contained in the pasted character string allow a unique record to be identified in the directory database, the call is started directly; otherwise the different records found are displayed in the dropdown list and you only need to click any of the records to start the call.

An Outlook or Lync 2013 contact:

If the contact record contains only one number, the call is made directly.

If the contact record contains several numbers, an options list lets you choose the number with which to make the call.

From the context menu of a contact in Lync 2013:

By searching in the Call Manager directory:

Enter the first letters of the correspondent's surname and/or first name. The different records found are displayed in a dropdown list.

The display capacity of the dropdown list is twelve records. If the number of responses is higher, the background colour turns pink showing that it may be necessary to refine the search.

Select the correspondent's name then click the call button or press Enter.

To make a search by surname AND first name, enter the first letters of the surname and the first letters of the first name in any order, separated by a space.

This also works with compound surnames and first names.

Examples:

By typing in "J P T" or "T J P" or "J T" or "T J" or "jean" or "TIMB", you can find the "Jean-Pierre Timbault's" record.

By typing in "P L G" or "L G P" or "Paul L" or "L Gu", you can find "Paul Le Guen's" record.

The search can be limited to search by surname only or by first name only by modifying this option in the configuration window.

By using shortcuts :

If they are activated in the Keyboard shortcut tab of the Configuration parameters menu, select the field and use the key combination corresponding to the call.

2.4 ENDING A CALL

To end a call, click .

or use the keyboard shortcut defined to end the call (the keyboard shortcut should

be activated in the Keyboard shortcut tab of the Configuration parameters menu).

2.5 INCOMING CALL

When a call comes in the caller's surname and first name are displayed. The cursor is used to show the phone number in a pop-up.

Yellow: incoming call

If the correspondent is not known to the system, the phone number is displayed instead of the name.

To answer, click the call button or use the keyboard shortcut defined to accept an

incoming call (the keyboard shortcut should be activated in the Keyboard

shortcut tab of the Configuration parameters menu).

2.6 ENQUIRY CALL, CONFERENCE, MULTI-KEY

Multiple calls cannot be set up from the application. On the other hand, an enquiry call, conference call or multi-key call set up from the terminal will be displayed in the application window.

If an enquiry call is set up, the surname and first name of the two correspondents are displayed (or their phone numbers). There is a button for hanging up. The two calls are then released.

If a conference call is set up, both calls are in blue. There is a button for hanging up. The two calls are then released.

Conference call

Aastra Dialer can display as many calls as the multi-keys programmed on the terminal. Example: one call set up and two incoming calls

Blue: call in progress

Yellow: incoming calls

ATTENTION : Caution: when a call is on hold, it must be taken from the terminal.

2.7 WAITING

It is not possible to take a second call during a call with a terminal not set to multi-key mode. However, the application announces the arrival of this call: the surname and first name are displayed in brackets.

2.8 CASE OF A MULTI-LINE SUBSCRIBER

Available only for A5000.

A multi-line subscriber has several directory numbers.

Example 2: a subscription with two multi-key lines

2.9 SPECIFIC CASES

If the terminal associated with a subscription is a SIP terminal (except 6700i or 6800i range terminals where the behaviour is better), an analogue terminal, a DECT terminal or a Blustar equipment, to call a called party, it is necessary to confirm the call from the terminal by off-hooking or pressing the call key. As long as the terminal is not off-hooked, the application looks like this:

Then once the terminal is off-hooked, the display changes colour indicating that the call is being set up:

Mauve: call on hold

No matter the hunt group type (fixed, cyclic, general), the caller's name will be displayed followed by the hunt group name. The following is displayed:
