Development of smart systems to integrate the control of lighting, blinds and HVAC applications to :

=> improve the indoor environement(thermal confort, visual comfort, indoor air quality)

=> reduce energy consumption

A good integration can be achieved througha limited data exchange

Define the data to be exchanged betweencontrollers

between service/plant/zone levels

At the zone level the different applications shall enable to reach the following goals:

Provide requested thermal comfort

Provide requested illuminance level

Avoid glare or provide requested contrast level

To reach these three different goals three different actuators can be used at the zone level:

Heating/cooling actuator

Artificial lighting

Solar protection.

A A stepstep by by stepstep approachapproach to design to design controllerscontrollers

1) integration of Light and Blind

2) integration of HVAC and Blind

3) integration of HVAC, Light and Blind

ENEA/AGE n° 99-000TRP - 23

Département Développement DurableDépartement Développement DurableIntegrationIntegration of light of light andand blindblind

1st strategy:

There is no integration but optimised glare controller

2nd strategy:

There is a first level of integration. The illuminancecontroller sends requests to the glare controller.

3rd strategy:

2nd level of integration. The illuminance controllersends requests to the glare controller and the latersends back it's possibility to move up.

SomeSome resultsresults for light for light andand blindblindintegrationintegration

Integration of simple algorithm leads to a large improvement

Integration of already optimised stand alonealgorithms does not lead to significantimprovement

Question?What is the best approach

integration of simple products

optimisation of stand alone products

ENEA/AGE n° 99-000TRP - 26

Département Développement DurableDépartement Développement DurableConclusionConclusion

data to be exchanged are defined

process to implement strategy involving differentmanufacturers was tested

prototypes are implemented in a demonstrationroom

connection to service and plant level have been defined but not implemented in demonstrationroom

the structure is ready, better algorithms can bedefined independantly by the manufacturers
