Sgurr Energy – Glasgow Student Project September 2013 – June 2014 Responsible for the development of a robust solution to address issues experienced throughout the Lidar installation process. Key focus placed on the elimination of manual handling risks associated with prolonged lifting of heavy objects. Duties:
• Liaising with the clients at Sgurr Energy to support the team with product development and solution generation.
• Researching and developing ideas for new products relating to the Lidar installation process.
• Product costing for final solution. • Using correct engineering principles to develop a detailed
design and final specification, including material and component selection.
• Failure modes and effects analysis. • Evaluation and testing based on functional and engineering
design requirements. • Develop and maintain project plans using project management
techniques such as Gantt charts and activity lists.
Scottish Health Innovations Limited (SHIL) and the Ayrshire and Arran National Health Trust – Ayr Hospital Student Project September 2012 – June 2013 Responsible for the development and refinement of a blood sampling kit for use within Intensive Care Units. Key focus on the elimination of blood wastage within the sampling process. Duties:
• Researching and developing new ideas for a complex medical system.
• Using computer-aided design for the development of detailed final solutions.
• Liaising with the clients in relation to the issue of infection control, use and cost.
• Develop and maintain project plans using project management techniques such as Gantt charts and activity lists.
• Researching and advising on methods of manufacture. • Using 3D printing techniques to produce viable prototypes. • Writing professional progress reports for clients and academics. • Creating technical drawings for use in design protection
