THE VANIER MEDAL OF THE INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION OF CANADA The Institute of Public Administration of Canada awards annually a gold medal as a mark of distinction and exceptional achievement to a person who, in the opinion of a panel of independent judges, has shown distinc- tive leadership in public administration in Canada, or who, by his or her writings or other endeavours, has made a significant contribution in the field of public administration in Canada. The late Georges P. Vanier, when Governor General, graciously consented to have the medal known as The Vanier Medal of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada. Nomination procedure 1. All nominations for the 2014 Medal shall be made over the signature of not less than three persons, and in order to qualify for consideration, must be received by the CEO at the National Office of the Institute, 1075 Bay Street, Suite 401, Toronto, Ontario M5S 2B1, no later than 8 April 2014. 2. Each nomination shall be accompanied by a concise description of the work and achievements of the nominee that, in the opinion of the nominators, qualify the nominee for the award, together with such supporting evidence as they may wish the judges to consider. 3. The CEO shall refer all such nominations received by him to a special committee of five independent judges appointed annually by the Board of Directors of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada. 4. The committee of judges shall decide on or before 30 June 2014 the person, if any, who is to receive the award for 2014. 5. No award shall be made in any year if, in the opinion of the judges, no nomination worthy of an award is received. 6. A nomination may be re-submitted in a subsequent year. L’Institut d’administration publique du Canada décerne chaque année unemédaille d’or pour service exceptionnel et distingué. Choisi par un juryindépendant, le récipiendaire doit s’être montré un administrateur horspair ou avoir, par ses écrits ou ses activités, servi admirablement la causede l’administration publique au Canada. Le feu Gouverneur généralGeorges P. Vanier avait gracieusement consenti à ce que cette récompensesoit connue sous le nom de « Médaille Vanier de l’Institut d’administrationpublique du Canada ».

Processus de mise en candidature1. Toutes les candidatures pour la Médaille Vanier de 2014 devront porter

la signature d’au moins trois personnes et ne pourront être considéréesque si elles sont reçues par le Chef de la direction générale du bureaunational de l’Institut, 1075 rue Bay, Bureau 401, Toronto, Ontario, M5S2B1, au plus tard le 8 avril 2014.

2. A l’appui de chaque proposition, les personnes proposant une candi-dature devront présenter une brève description des travaux et desréalisations qui, selon eux, rendent le candidat digne de la médaille;elles peuvent, en outre, soumettre aux juges tout autre témoignageconsidéré comme pertinent.

3. Le Chef de la direction générale transmettra toutes les candidaturesqu’il aura reçues à un comité spécial de cinq juges indépendants,nommés chaque année par le conseil d’administration de l’Institutd’administration publique du Canada.

4. Le jury doit désigner, s’il y a lieu, le récipiendaire de la médaille de 2014au plus tard le 30 juin 2014.

5. Le jury n’est pas tenu de décerner la médaille s’il estime qu’aucune despersonnes proposées n’en est digne.

6. Il est permis de soumettre, une année ultérieure, le nom d’une personnequi a déjà été proposée.
