    The meeting was held at the Butterfield Lodge in Fayetteville, AR. From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Thirty-sixpeople attended the meeting. The theme for this meeting was Womans Christian Temperance Union. Tables

    were set up for door prizes, silent auction items, registration and dining.

    As everyone gathered, guests were treated to home made cinnamon rolls, coffee, tea and water, as well ascookies.

    It was noted by Nancy Wakefield that there had been a movement to reorganize M.O.K.A. and she shared

    details of the proposed changes that was under discussion at the last meeting in Topeka, as well as a meetingat the Butterfield Villa on Oct 26

    thto further discuss the changes. It was agreed that these changes should be

    ratified in all four states; Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas before final implementation.

    Rheba Ford set up a display in a shelf area with items associated with her presentation on Carry A. Nation.Ford showed a quilt she made and told the story of Carry Nations life and her association with the Womans

    Christian Temperance Union. She also shared a story and quilt honoring Harriet Tubman.

    Ronna Precure showed and explained her antique pin cushion collection. Many different kinds and types ofsewing notions and pin cushions were displayed as well as interesting stories.

    Lunch was served of a Caesar salad, followed by a chicken/pasta salad, breads as well as iced tea, coffee and

    water. Dessert was a chocolate silk pie.

    Following lunch, Alice McElwain gave a brief history of WCTU and talked about several quilt patterns thatwere associated with this movement. McElwain then showed a collection of Drunkards Path quilts and

    quilt tops and shared the names of each one. It was concluded that unless there was provenance or someinscription on the quilt, that these patterns were not necessarily WCTU quilts, but just popular pattern colors

    and names.

    Kay Rhoads headed up the Silent Auction and there was spirited bidding between friends. All auction itemswere donated by Arkansas M.O.K.A. members.

    All attendees were lucky to receive door prizes that were displayed for them to pick their choice item.

    Hopefully everyone found something that they would enjoy. Holly Crow was in charge of acquiring the doorprizes.

    Nedra Angell displayed her antique T patterned quilt from the last half of the 19th

    century which was a

    family heirloom. Many others brought quilts to share and the last half of the meeting was taken up with

    show and share.

    The next meeting will be in the spring and hosted by the state of Missouri.
