Scientific papers cover physics, biology,chemistry, mathematics, clinicalmedicine, biomedical research,engineering, technology, and earthand space sciences.

The number of scientific paperspublished by researchers in the UnitedStates was more than three times asmany as were published by the secondhighest-publishing population, Japan.

There is more scientific research, orpublication of results, in richerterritories. This locational bias is suchthat roughly three times more scientificpapers per person living there arepublished in Western Europe, North

America, and Japan, than in any otherregion.
