The balance sheet gets heavy from day to day, our brothers and
sisters mourn their country
and are afraid to relive this history. Haiti suffered and Haiti
continues suffer. Haiti needs us,
as for your fellows who need you in the hard instants of their
life. After this shock that they
have, all sudden a strong solidarity becomes established at
home. This solidarity, they find it
near us, where simple citizens accommodate homeless, in private
hospitals and hospitals,
where the doctors serve their associates free, where upper
people " fight in body and soul tobring some water, the food,
medicaments to the divesting, where young persons devote
themselves to help, help and help their country.
Behind this shock that we all were subjected, a new departure
puts on in place. It will be
necessary to rebuild buildings, houses, but this reconstruction
will be the image of the
reconstruction of our nation, yes, a nation, a less divided and
more united Haitian nation,
where each can find his place and be proud of its fatherland,
optimistic as for its future, and
which share stocks even.
Today our challenges are real, they are difficult and numerous,
they will not be easily raised,
and fast non-more, but they will be and have to be fulfilled.
The time is come for us to
reassert as nation, to keep the check quoted by our history to
pierce a nice future, to recover
the stocks which join us all. We all understand that success has
never been handed, he must beearned. We are perhaps the poorest
country in the world, but what was created, was the fruit
of our imagination, and today we are not less able as last week,
that last month, or of last year.
As from today, we have to turn to the future, to gather and to
rebuild our dear Haiti.
Some people wonder about the future of our country, by telling
them selfs that we shall be
able to make nothing, that Haiti is finished, re-visit your
history, and you will see that nothing
is impossible if your ambition gains the upper hand on your
fright, if you reconsider common
interest with your personal interests. They will not let believe
in others than our country is
finished, our minds are bigger than the challenges which come
us, at this instant when we
start from scratch, move on again on new foundations, on new
thoughts, on new visions. Our
country changed, we must change with him. At this instant, at
the time when a new generation
is going to define itself, it is these stocks which have to
unite us all. One asks for what us to
take back our responsibility towards our motherland, a
recognition towards all Haitian, while
knowing they have a duty towards our nation, a duty which they
find it difficult to accept. It is
the secret of our future, the promise of a better life for us
all.
