Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the National Museum of Qatar has an interlocking disks design inspired

by the iconic desert rose.

While working at the site office, I drafted work quality reports and took process pictures for the architects. I transferred MEP from

AutoCAD files into Digital Project (BIM), and was responsible for communicating with contractors for door hardware proposals. I also performed additional tasks for the project manager using Rhino, Illus-

trator and Photoshop.

The 8’ neighborhood model, along with 6 different structures, created an interactive space to engage

the site through view, rest and promenade.

Planes of MDF were screwed on the structural frame, made of 2 x 4s to create spaces within

the 8’ cube. The construction was then bolted on poured concrete to level the model on the ground.

The diagonals of the model are known for its structural stability as it obviates large columns which

means less load for the foundation.

using a Diagrid concept, a module is tessalated, arrayed and altered to created spaces. variations of detailed units as well as cavities are formed to

push the limits of 3D Printing.

A diagonal cut is made on material in order to cut the surface of the triangles with a CNC Milling

Machine.

Further exploring the diagrid form and its characteristics, two diagrid columns wrap around to create a

spaceframe structure. Like roots of a tree finding its way into the ground, the design strives to create one-ness into

the forest for a biodiversity research center.
