EDITORIALA FAIR WITH
YOUTH AND WISDOMSlick Brussels may be a young fair, but through this second edition we have every ambition to grow, to embellish and, most importantly, to propose in the words of the poet Mallarmé, all that is beautiful and vivacious today.
With youth and wisdom, Slick Brussels offers a dynamic forum where collectors, professionals and the general public can come together to find new forms of intellectual debate, interactions around a variety of ideas, a sense of pertinence, and we hope, some impertinence when it comes to tomorrow’s contemporary art scene.
For this second edition, we are putting down European roots: a majority of galleries from the North were selected, including Belgium, Germany, Holland, and France. However, we continue to expand our geographic scope by discovering new talents in Russia, Turkey and Japan. Our discerning eye has never failed to identify a wealth of young, up-and-coming, and highly active artists, whose innova-tive spirit is showcased by all the galleries who are joining us for this second edition.
To render SLICK Brussels all the more lively, we also have the pleasure of inviting artists to express themselves in situ in the fair. We would like to highlight the engagement of the artists and galleries participating in our Slick Projects, which will include large-scale works, installations or solo shows, produced especially for the fair. Slick Projects was very well received at the last edition and will continue to expand this year.
Collectors are particularly attracted to this young, Belgian fair. Their support will be formalized this year in the launch of a new event: The Collectors Prize. For the first time and during the fair, this prize will be awarded to an artist and his or her gallerist for the quality of his or her Slick Project. This year, the award will be given by Frédéric de Goldsmith, Galila Barzilai Hollander, Alain Servais, Agnès Rein and Hubert Bonnet, most notably. We warmly thank them for their support.
Finally, we would like to thank all of the private and institutional partners who, through their associa-tion with this second edition of Slick Brussels, are lending their support to the success of this event – a fair on a human scale, curious and vibrant, that symbolises our passion for art.

UNE FOIRE AVEC JEUNESSE ET RAISON
Fusse-telle jeune, la seconde édition de Slick Brussels n’en a pas moins la prétention de croître, de s’embellir et surtout de proposer, selon les mots du poète Mallarmé, le bel et le vivace d’aujourd’hui.
Avec jeunesse et raison, Slick Brussels entend proposer un forum dynamique où collectionneurs, public et professionnels viennent y trouver les nouvelles formes d’un débat intellectuel, les raisons et les variations d’un échange d’idées, et la pertinence, comme, espérons-le, l’impertinence de l’art contemporain de demain.
Pour cette deuxième édition, nous avons souhaité affirmer un ancrage européen en sélectionnant une majorité de galeries des pays du Nord, Belgique, Allemagne, Hollande et France. Nous conti-nuons, cependant, d’élargir cette aire géographique par la découverte de la création russe, turque ou japonaise. Notre regard n’a de cesse de distinguer la richesse d’artistes jeunes, prometteurs, actifs, dont l’esprit novateur est mis en valeur par l’ensemble des galeristes qui nous font confiance.
La vivacité de Slick Brussels passe, ainsi par l’onde d’un plaisir à inviter des artistes à s’exprimer in situ dans la foire. A ce titre, nous aimerions souligner l’engagement des artistes et des galeris-tes autour des Slick Project, œuvres parfois de grandes dimensions, installations ou solo shows, produites spécialement pour la foire, qui ont reçu l’an passé un écho très favorable et qui prennent davantage leur essor cette année.
Nous aimerions signaler l’intérêt des collectionneurs pour notre jeune foire belge. Ce soutien s’est concrétisé par la création d’un événement : le Prix des Collectionneurs. Pour la première fois, pen-dant la foire, ce prix sera remis à un artiste - et à son galeriste - pour la qualité de son Slick Project. Cette récompense sera remise cette année par Frédéric de Goldsmith, Galila Barzilai Hollander, Alain Servais, Agnès Rein et Hubert Bonnet notamment que nous remercions très chaleureusement de leur engagement
Enfin, nous voudrions remercier les partenaires privés et institutionnels qui, en s’associant à cette seconde édition de Slick Brussels, renforcent la notoriété de notre événement, cette foire à taille humaine, curieuse et vivante, symbole de notre passion pour l’art.
