Un domalne important de la science pr6historique et arch6ologique est l'6tude des relations de l'homme avec le monde v6g6tal (et le monde animal pour l'Ethnozoologie). Les nombreux scientifiques qui lui consacrent leurs recherches ont l'habitude de se r6unir en congr6s tous les trois ans. Le pr6sent volume correspond aux compte- rendus du 6e Symposium du Groupe de recherche international de Pal6oethnobotanique r6uni/~ Groningen en 1983. Comme pour tousles comptes-rendus du congr6s, il n'est gu6re possible d'analyser le contenu d'un tel ouvrage. En effet 30 contributions sont rassembl6es. La grande majorit6 est en langue angialse mais quelques unes sont en allemand. Presque routes correspondent/t des recherches r6gionales mals certaines ont d'ind6niables d6veloppe- merits m6thodologiques ou synth6tiques. Ainsi sont abord~s les probl6mes de plantes sauvages, de cueillette, de culture, de c6r6ales etc... Bien qu'au premier abord quelque peu marginaux, ces domaines ethnobotaniques sont fort int6ressants aussi bien pour le pal6obotaniste que pour le g6ologue quaternariste.
